Formed in East London in 2014, the Acid Drops initial influences were 70s
jazz-funk pioneers like Herbie Hancock, Lalo Schifrin and the Crusaders.
As their music developed their sound took on a distinctly grittier, harder edge. This fusion of a groove-based approach with experimental soundscapes has resulted in material which spans the borders of funk, jazz, electronica and progressive rock.
The result is both reassuringly familiar yet also an intriguing mixing of traditional funk vibes with modern, synthetic sound treatments.
The Acid Drops are: John Baker (drums), Tony Law (saxophones),
Jeff Stevenson (guitar and guitar synth) and Richard Scarr (bass).
